Friday Night Funkin Story Mode is a free online rhythm game available at fnf.gosprunki.net. The plot: you're trying to be with your girlfriend, but her mean and evil ex-rockstar dad wants to eliminate you. The only way to win his heart? The power of music. This FNF mod is currently in beta, so you're encouraged to report any bugs or glitches.
Original Credits & Update History
The original game was created by ninjamuffin99 on Newgrounds, with music by Kawai Sprite, art by phantomarcade and evilsk8r, spooky kids by Sr. Pelo, and Winter Horrorland voices by Aliza. Some art was modified by Toad_85/Myboe_(Roblox) and the mod creator – please give credit if you reuse these assets. The story mode has evolved through many versions:
- v1.6.0 (5/24/21) – Week 6 content + minor performance improvements.
- v1.5.0 (5/18/21) – Week 5 content, animation overhaul, memory improvements.
- v1.5.0B (5/17/21) – Tracks input accuracy (sick/good/bad/nasty), overhauled transitions, fixed false stopping bug.
- v1.4.1 (5/11/21) – New/fixed animations for BF/GF/henchmen, note splashes, input fixes.
- v1.4.0 Mother's Day Update (5/9/21) – Added downscroll and keybind options, Week 4 (3 new songs + 1 new character), more forgiving health drain, press Enter to skip intro.
- v1.3.1 (4/26/21) – Non-slip shoes for BF, revamped menus, Pico animation fix, new loading screen, camera zooms on beat.
- v1.3.0 (4/21/21) – Week 3, Story Mode, improved text engine, practice mode, fixed South charting.
- v1.2.0 (4/18/21) – Week 2 songs (Spookeez and South), voice stops on missed notes, arrow feedback, HP balance.
- v1.1.1 – Basic score/health system, improved death animation, custom character mod support.
- v1.1 – FPS toggle, non-functional health bar, moving camera.
- v1.0.0 (4/14/21) – Public release.
Planned features: global camera zoom on beat, VCR text engine with session best scores (possible cloud scores), and difficulty levels.
How to Play – Controls & Advanced Features
- Controls: WASD or arrow keys – press the key when the arrow aligns with the target arrow. (Keybinds customizable in future updates.)
- Press R to die / restart the song.
- Press 7 to open the chart editor.
- Custom songs: Add your own inst/vocals, calculate the duration, and edit song info inside one of the music sprites.
- Custom characters: Duplicate the dad sprite – the instructions are inside the sprite to add your own costumes.
- The engine is coded by @houchdj.
