The FNF Matt Boxing Test is not just a playable mod – it's a modding engine and template designed for creators who want to import custom sprites into Friday Night Funkin. Based on the popular Matt character (originally from Wii Sports), this work-in-progress remix lets you create your own FNF battles with minimal coding.
Credited to sonic90000000 and Meekaryo (with special thanks to @Meekaryo for "this bad boi"), the engine allows anyone to remix the project and insert their own character sprites. If you post gameplay on YouTube, the developer requests engine credit.
Step 1: Remix the project on Scratch (or open the source).
Step 2: Navigate to the character sprite.
Step 3: Tap/click on it and import the sprites you want to use.
Step 4: Go to the code tab and change the costume names. Currently, the engine uses "0" as a placeholder – rename it to match your imported costume.
Step 5: Adjust the "when right pressed" or other input events to trigger the new costume names you've set.
Step 6: The developer acknowledges they forgot some steps and promises a full tutorial later on their YouTube channel: lil doofy.
This engine simplifies the process of creating FNF mods by providing a pre-configured character slot and input system. Instead of building from scratch, you just replace sprites and rename costumes. It's ideal for artists who want to see their OCs (original characters) in FNF without deep programming knowledge.
